Grab A Buddy And Get To The Barre

Working out with a buddy is more than just fun; in many cases, it's the secret to success. A workout buddy provides motivation, pushes us to work harder, and boosts our commitment to getting fit. Think about it - you're more likely to attend your 6pm barre class after work if you know your buddy is counting on you to be there too.

Recent studies have even shown that we are more likely to achieve our fitness goals by simply partnering with a buddy. For example, researchers in the Department of Kinesiology at Indiana University found that couples who worked out together were 7 times more likely to stick with their fitness routine. The dropout rate among those that worked out together was found to be 6.3% compared to 43% among those that worked out separately.

Another study of 1000 women conducted by Virgin Active Health Clubs found that:

-    64% of those who worked out with their friends pushed themselves harder than if they worked out alone;

-    31% of women considered their friends to be the motivation they need to stay fit;

-    women who exercised with their friends burned up 20% more calories – in fact, those that worked out together burned 236 calories compared to 195 calories among those that exercised alone;

-    women who exercised together also worked out longer - the average length of a work out with friends was found to be 42 minutes compared to 31 minutes for a solo work out.

Clearly, there are many important reasons to 'shake your booty at the barre' with a friend. In order to help you do just that, we are announcing our Bring A Friend special.
